Willkommen bezieht sich auf Ankommende/Reisende, Flüchtlinge, Kinder/Jugendgruppen oder Randgruppen, denen mehr Anerkennung in unserer Gesellschaft zusteht.
Willkommen verweist auf den Wert der Annahme und auf das Menschenrecht: „Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar.“ Jedem Menschen gebührt es mit Respekt und Achtung behandelt zu werden und in dem Sinne auch Willkommen geheißen zu werden.
„One Billion Rising“ fordert: Menschenrecht ist auch Frauenrecht.
Bremen setzt mit der Willkommensbenennung ein Zeichen für Gleichberechtigung, Gewaltlosigkeit und Frieden.
